Applied Social and Community Psychology

Applied Social & Community psychology is concerned with practical questions of how individuals’ thoughts, feelings, and actions are influenced by other people and by social institutions. Topics focused on at Portland State University include, but are not limited to Socialization Processes, Self, Social Relationships and Social Roles, Health Psychology, Sociocultural Psychology, Community Psychology & Prevention, Gender and Sexuality, Methods of Social Change and Intervention, & Ethics.

Graduate students are typically quite involved in the research projects of their faculty advisors. More information about faculty members' research is available through individual faculty web pages.

Please note that we do not offer graduate specialization in clinical or counseling psychology.
