In a research collaboration between Applied Developmental psychologists and Applied Social psychologists at Portland State University, the Mind the Music Project is developing an innovative approach in designing interventions targeting substance abuse. Specifically, the Mind the Music Project is devoted to examining the efficacy and effectiveness of an intervention involving mindfulness meditation.
The ONRP is a collaborative research effort between an Industrial/Organizational Psychology lab at Clemson University, our lab at Portland State University, and the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) in Portland. Specifically designed to identify the factors influencing a wide range of outcomes for nurses, the ONRP focuses on broad issues such as turnover and retention, health and well-being, and methodological issues in measurement. This project has produced various scholarly presentations at prestigious conferences across the nation (and internationally), several manuscripts for publication, and a heightened awareness of the growing issues among nurses in the healthcare context. Future goals of the ONRP include continued collaborative efforts to identify further key areas for additional research and application, such as interventions.
